Char’s Hair Design and A place for change were created to allow anyone to get the salon services they need in a tolerant, diverse, safe, friendly, non-judgmental atmosphere. Char’s Hair Design is a trendy, urban feel salon with a very diverse clientele. Everyone is welcome at Char’s. A Place for Change caters to the transgender community, providing services and guidance to help make your transition as easy as possible. M to F or F to M, Char has the special eye to see the real you and help bring out your inner beauty.

Char has been an active member of the LGBTQ community since she “came out” as a Lesbian at the age of 19. She has been in the hair business for over 19 years and loves her career. She is a member of The Human Rights Campaign, The Rainbow Chamber of Commerce and is a strong supporter of the Billy De Frank LGBTQ Community Center in the South Bay.

During her tour in the Air Force, Char did haircuts in the barracks for her fellow Airmen and found her passion.

Char and her daughter Rachel, dog, Missy, and her Parrott, Stanley, reside in San Jose. Char loves to play her guitar, sing, paint, ride her Honda Saber 1100 cruiser bike and fly kites at the beach.
